The Vision & Interaction Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University has wide interests in the area of computer vision and interaction. Our current researches focus on implicit human computer interaction (iHCI), brain computer interaction (BCI) and visual information processing. In the areas of iHCI, we have built a system and proposed models for understanding the physical and mental states of human via their action and behavior in 3D living environment. The iHCI system provides attentive services to the people without distracting the attention of people based on the understanding of their actions. In the areas of BCI, we have built a mind controlled computer (MCC), which is a computer driven via EEG signals, without mouse and keyboard, neither touch pad or screen. The MCC has been used to help the people who suffer from serious Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, etc. The MCC is also designed for preventing neurodegeneration of aged people via a set of tasks and games in their daily life. Our research work has been supported by Chinese National Scientific Foundation, Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology via various projects. We have cooperated projects with many world level research labs in Intel, Siemens, Samsung, and IBM.
